God Answered the Why Question & More
April 25, 2022 - This morning as I was having my quiet time, God grabbed my heart with Luke 4:18-19. The TPT translation says it this way, ""The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and He has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, 'You are set free'! I have come to share the message of Jubilee (Good News) for the time of God's great acceptance (favor) has begun."
Over the course of 10 years, we have often wondered what the purpose of Cafe Connections really was and why would God use two very flawed people to run this operation. We serve free cake and coffee. It's nothing to write home about. Let's face it, there is no way to measure the effectiveness of this type of ministry by the world's standards. God called, we answered, and we are now in 10 years.
This morning, God answered my why questions and I cried. Luke 4:18-19 tells me that the ministry of Cafe Connections IS the very expression of God's own heart. He came to heal the brokenhearted, to bring hope to the poor and to preach to the prisoners. This is WHY God continues to pour out His favor upon this ministry. This is also WHY God chose us to "run this operation". We KNOW what it is like to be broken. We KNOW what pain feels and looks like. We have experienced God's love and total forgiveness. Can we relate to those who God brings through our doors? Oh yeah! More than we would like to admit sometimes.
This ministry is NOT about Steve and Ann. This ministry is ALL about JESUS. Cafe Connections is hopefully, a reflection of His heart and His love for all who enter our doors. Thank you, Jesus, for answering my WHY questions.
